More wins than any professional funny car driver.
Mark Thomas is the only professional funny car driver in International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) history to win the world championship six times. He won in 1990, 1991, 1992, 1994, 2001 and 2006 - the first and last wins coming at Rockingham. "It was tough here in '04 (when he finished second), but I still love this track," he said.
With 27 national event wins and 55 final-round appearances, Mark is the winningest professional funny car racer in IHRA history. He has placed runner-up five times in the IHRA points chase.
"I support ethanol because it is renewable, reliable and it's a way to gain our independence back, as it creates many jobs and supports American agriculture."
He's been racing since 1980, and using ethanol in his cars since 1990. "It was something we could produce from agriculture. We are able to showcase a product that we believe in and demonstrate the performance that goes with it."
Mark and his father are partners in a large family farm operation in Louisville, Ohio. They milk 500 Holstein cows and farm 2,200 acres of corn, soybeans, wheat and alfalfa.
Mark is married and has three children.
