How can I help?

Using Ethanol

Ethanol is a clean, renewable, high performance fuel for your vehicle. Every U.S.-manufactured make and model is covered under warranty for use up to a 10 percent blend of ethanol (called E10).

Clean.

  • This clean-burning fuel reduces carbon monoxide and hydrocarbon tailpipe emissions.
  • An oxygenate that burns more cleanly and more completely than gasoline.

 Renewable.

  • Made from corn and other crops.
  • Energy source renewable by energy from the sun, rain, and soil.
  • New supply of ethanol "grown" each year, unlike millions of years needed to produce fossil fuel-based energy sources.

 High performance.

  • Pure 100% ethanol has an octane rating of 113.
  • Adding 10% ethanol to gasoline raises the overall octane by 2 to 3 points.
  • Lower BTU value than gasoline.
    • Burns cooler.
    • Less wear and tear on vehicle engine; longer engine life.
